A positive pregnancy testing result can bring a rush of emotions and a new set of questions.
How far along am I? How do I get all the information I need?
A positive test cannot answer those questions. That’s why You Medical offers no-cost, diagnostic limited OB ultrasound appointments for eligible patients so that you can confirm pregnancy details with clearer medical information.
What a Limited OB Ultrasound Can Confirm
A diagnostic limited OB ultrasound provides three key pieces of information:
- Gestational age: Knowing how far along the pregnancy is helps determine your options. Medical abortion, for example, is FDA-approved up to 10 weeks of gestation.
- Pregnancy location: You have an ectopic pregnancy if your pregnancy is developing outside of the uterus. This condition requires immediate treatment to prevent complications.
- Viability: An ultrasound screens for a heartbeat. If your pregnancy has ended naturally, you’ve had a miscarriage and may require medical attention.
This information helps protect your health and can reduce uncertainty when decisions feel time-sensitive.
What the Appointment Is Like
Our limited OB ultrasounds are typically performed abdominally. Gel is placed on the abdomen, and a handheld device is used to capture images of the pregnancy. In some cases, additional imaging may be needed, and a vaginal ultrasound may also be performed to obtain clearer information.
Ultrasounds are performed by trained medical professionals under the direction of a licensed medical provider.
Why Confirmation Matters
Confirming details early helps you avoid unnecessary risks. For example, an elective abortion does not make sense if your pregnancy has ended naturally. Instead, you may require monitoring or additional care.
Receiving an ultrasound is also a good time to get your questions answered by licensed professionals who put your health and safety first.
